Folks and Fans of Puerto Penasco Joe. Get to Chango's Bar and Grill early on June 11, Saturday for the Roger Clyne and Peacemakers concert. All are expected to have a good time and many drinks - or else.!
Located in the new development area of Sandy Beach is Chango’s Rocky Point Bar owned by the the Puerto Peņasco philanthropist Larry Large and his two partners Mike and Kenny. Larry is a well known figure in Rocky Point for his work with affordable housing, family assistance and educational programs within the community of Puerto Peņasco. Additionally, he owns Hacienda Las Fuentes Restaurant on Fremont Blvd in town.
Inhabited by Lemurs
Chango’s reminds me of the set from that well known motion picture of the New York City animals sent to live on a reservation only to end up on an island inhabited by lemurs. With a safari flare, the restaurant has a thatched roof, bamboo lighting, and a jungle murals painted on the wall. I could invision those lemurs monkey’s hanging from the lamp shades dancing to the music of the local band that plays on the weekend. The music and murals, combined with the lighting create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere.
Live Music on Friday/Saterday
Changos Bar and Grill has been open for just over 3 years. Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers will play live in Rocky Point in front of Changos on June 11th, Saturday. The changos will be packed. So come get your drink early and enjoy the show. Winter is the slow season in RP, so the restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday. The local band Los Akustikos plays on Friday and Saturday. Chango’s recently hosted the Girls of Rocky Point Calendar contest. Bringing together some of the most beautiful girls from around town.
Fabulous Chicken Burrito
I had the chicken burrito for dinner. Fabulous. Load with good quality chicken and a ton of green peppers and onions. All cooked to perfection. Chango’s offers everything from ribs, to fried fish to tacos. On the weekend they have a wide selection of breakfast dishes.
We have heard that the exchange rate at Chango’s is still 10/1. As of the the end of March many establishments were giving a 13/1 exchange rate. So it may be advantageous for you to ask them if they could give you a better rate than the 10/1.
The restaurant is located near the Sonoran Sea and Spa. All in all we give Chango’s Rocky Point Bar our 4 green chilles.
