Sea Lion Watching on Sea of Cortez There is nothing like being on the open waters. Hum of the engines, the bow bobbing, splash of the waves against the hull as the boat cuts through the water, and the sun beating down on your body. Out in the distance is your destination of San Felipe at the base of the towering mountains of the Baja, but before you arrive, the captain makes a short detour, as he has just spotted a pod of dolphins. The boat draws nearer to the pod, the dolphins begin to keep pace, as if your boat is a new member of the pod, playing and skipping along the open Sea of Cortez. You snap your pictures and take your movie. Then, as the dolphins swim away, and the captain returns to his course toward San Felipe and the setting sun, you sit, in silence, reflecting on your experience.
